Puerco Canyon Movie Trucks Hog The Trail, Residents Say

Written by on August 2, 2018

Industrial scale moviemaking returned to a wilderness park in Malibu yesterday.

Residents of Puerco Canyon in were horrified to see huge trucks … buses and equipment hauled up the narrow switchback road … owned by the City of Malibu … that accesses the James Cameron wilderness Park.

Bicyclists who normally use the mountain road were ejected by park rangers.

So were hikers.

A bicyclist stated, “they are ruining our habitat just so they can make it into a commercial enterprise”

… according to residents.

She says the the past four weeks have been miserable for the general public of hikers, dog walkers, meetup groups and bikers due to 70-80 equipment vehicles daily taking over the City road.

The mountains recreation and conservation authority is in the process of converting the one time a wildlands into a campground … with 90 parking spaces and extensive building facilities.

But residents note that for the past month … it has been a moneymaking film ranch … closed to the public ….

Not to mention a wedding venue.

That huge event saw a camp kitchen set up in the middle of dry brush.

Malibu officials say the movies have been using explosives and fake gunfire … and that proper firefighting and fire prevention techniques have not been observed.

KB UU news has repeatedly asked the MRCA what it has to say about those charges.

The MRCA does not speak to us.

Puerco Canyon residents are asking the public to contact Los Angeles County regional planning office to complain.

They say this area should be used for passive recreation … it’s a wilderness park … not as a moneymaking commercial enterprise for the MRCA.
