Electric Scooters Banned In BH – Migrating Towards Malibu From SM Spawning Grounds

Beverly Hills has just banned electric scooters.
Zero tolerance … says the city council there.
All scooters will be impounded … all riders ticketed.
This comes as the rental scooters have been spotted in Malibu … migrating up the Pacific Coast Highway after spawning in Santa Monica,
Meanwhile … Santa Monica police plan another scooter safety crackdown today.
TV cameras invited.
The department is defending its media show last week … when 600 scooters were confiscated on the boardwalk and thrown into trucks.
Hoots of derision from some Santa Monica residents … who pointed out the scooters were handed back to the Bird and Lime rental companies for free … and no tickets were written.
The department says it’s not trying to write a lot of tickets … it’s trying to change public safety attitudes.
And up here … Malibu has no ordinance on scooters … apparently content that no person who be stupid enough to ride an electric scooter up P C H.
