Written by on July 17, 2018

The city clerks in Malibu and Santa Monica opened for business yesterday … for people to take out petitions to run for city council here … and for the school board in the combined school district.

At Malibu City Hall … no word yet on who pulled petitions yesterday.

Four candidates publicly say they will run for the two seats.

They are Olivia Damavandi Ayreh  … Karen Farrer … Jim Palmer and Mikke Pierson .

In Santa Monica … Malibu resident Craig Foster was first in line.

The city of Santa Monica is in charge of the election for the Santa Monica Malibu school district … as well as the four Santa Monica College Board seats that cover Malibu.

Foster is running for re-election to the school board … and needs to gather 100 names in Malibu and Santa Monica.

Two other current members of the school board … Laurie Lieberman and Richard Tahvildaran-Jesswein …. also pulled nominations yesterday.

It’s not clear if the fourth incumbent … Oscar de la Torre … is also going to run for reelection.

The last school board election was cancelled .… when three candidates ran for the three open seats.
