Plans for the Malibu chili cook off go before the city planning commission next Monday night.
The new operators of the carnival are the Malibu Boys and Girls Club … which has been granted the lease for the vacant lot by the Malibu Bay Company.
This comes after 36 years a Chili cook offs run by the Malibu Kiwanis club.
Carnival organizers this year are asking to be allowed to have concerts on a stage … but not late at night.
Music will wrap up at 9 o’clock Friday and Saturday nights … 6 o’clock on Sunday.
And the carnival rides will have to cut their music at 10 o’clock.
The city planning director says this year’s event adds additional parking lots.
A total of 591 parking spaces will be available at these four locations for event guests and participants, as between 200 to 300 vehicles at any given time are expected to bring attendees on each day of the event.
About 20 to 24 carnival rides and games, with 10 to 15 large rides … are planned.
And beer and wine will be sold at the event in booths.
