Regional Road Dollars Bypass Malibu, Building Pretty Overpasses On 101

Written by on July 5, 2018

Calabasas has held its ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new 101 Freeway Lost Hills overpass.

37-million dollars in regional Metro sales tax money went to widen that bridge … make it look nice and pretty.

And just up the freeway … Agoura Hills is about to help itself to $13 million in Metro sales tax money to rebuild the Palo Comado overpass above the 1-0-1.

Another vanity project.

Meanwhile … not enough money for the huge list if traffic safety improvements needed on Pacific Coast Highway … a road that .. incidentally … is used by residents of Calabasas and Agoura Hills frequently.

Regional transportation money gets handed out by Malibu to something called the Las Virgenes Council of Governments … and Malibu gets one vote along with four cities on the 101 corridor.

Net result … lots of pretty new overpasses on the 101 … and safety improvements on Pacific Coast Highway remain unfunded.
