Malibu plans to cancel a project to widen P C H … to pay for land purchases.
KBUU News has learned that the plan to pay 42.5 million dollars to buy vacant land in the Civic Center and at Point Dume will have a cost … along P C H.

C-N-N is reporting that a 46-year old California man is dying of cancer … and Dewayne Johnsongoes to trial today against Monsanto … maker of Round Up.
Johnson was a school maintenance worker int he Bay Area who applied Round Up weed killer 20 to 30 times per year … while working for a county school system.
Across the country …. more than 2 thousand people have sued Monsanto …now a part of Bayer … for allegedly causing them to develop non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma … a deadly cancer.
Johnson’s case is the first to go to trial … it’s expedited because he is dying.
CNN reports that scientists around the world say said the key ingredient in Roundup, glyphosate, is “probably carcinogenic to humans.”
Monsanto says it has 800 studies that show Round Up to be safe.
The National Pesticide Information Center says studies on cancer rates in humans “have provided conflicting results … on whether the use of glyphosate containing products is associated with cancer.”
The big questions at stake are whether Roundup can cause cancer and, if so, whether Monsanto failed to warn consumers about the product’s cancer risk.
Round Up is an item of major concern on Malibu.
One government agency … the M R C A … has been spraying Rondup on public roads inside Malibu … that access its land.
No comment from the M R C A on why they are spraying Roundup inside Malibu city limits … when it is prohibited form doing so on its land outside city limits
