Agours Hills Loses Effort To Cram Development Into Kanan/101 Hillside

In news from over the hill … a huge proposed Agoura Hills building project at the gateway to Malibu has been tossed out by a judge.
The Cornerstone project would have put seven huge buildings at the corner Agoura and Cornell Roads.
116 thousand square feet of shops, restaurants, homes and offices would be terraced up a hillside overlooking Kanan Road … a hillside now covered by oak trees.
The City of Agoura Hills took all kinds of shortcuts in approving the plans environmentalk impact …. the judge rules.
Not the least of which … 29 large oak trees would have been chopped down … a violation of the city’s oak tree preservation ordinance.
The traffic impact on Kanan Dume Road was also not calculated … as Kanan is already a massive traffic jam many days south of the 101.
The judge’s ruling drives a massive hole in the City of Agoura Hills’ plan to create an urban village … at the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area … just over the hill from Malibu.
