Malibu’s plastic straw ban went into effect last weekend.
KBUU News bought two milkshakes at McDonald’s … and was given two paper straws.
We gave one to a tourist … Adrian from Los Angeles … and stuck our mic in his face as his unwrapped the straw.

“OK so, I’m opening the paper cover.
“Inside is a paper straw.
“Seems thick.
“Lets’s try it.
[SLURP]
“works just like a plastic straw!”
REPORTER:
“Think it’s going to make it all the way to the bottom?”
ADRIAN: “Yeah, it’s there!”
Another milkshake drinker … Shirley from Los Angeles . pronounced the Malibu paper straw perfect.

“I love them.
“And I love the fact that they’re not the plastic straws, and that they’re good for the environment.”
Not every tourist was happy.
A carload of kids from Arizona told us their straws gave out.
The straw ban takes effect on the same weekend that news comes of a pilot whale that died last week in Thailand.
The poor creature had more than 17 pounds of plastic waste in its stomach.
