Big Waves, Strong Winds, Drizzle Likely This Weekend

Written by on April 6, 2018

There’s a High Surf Advisory … posted by the National Weather Service …  which is in effect from 6 PM Saturday through Monday morning.

A westerly swell will build over the next few days.

Surf will build to 5 to 7 feet across west facing beaches early Saturday evening and continue through early Monday morning.

Local sets to 8 feet can be expected.

Big rain is coming to northern California … this weekend.

Up to 6 inches of rain in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Yosemite is being closed to the public due to anticipated heavy rains.

And reservoirs in Northern California are being readied for possible flood flows.

Lake Oroville supplies Southern California … including Malibu … with much of our water.

And you may remember last year … the gigantic dam’s spillways started to fall apart … causing a panicky evacuation downstream.

State officials warn that they may have to use the partially rebuilt spillway at Oroville Dam for the first time … since repairs began on the badly damaged structure last summer

As for Malibu … heavy rain will only fall this weekend as far south as Santa Maria … not so much here in Southern California.

The latest computer models say we’ll get between zero and one tenth of an inch of rain in Malibu on Saturday.

But we might get some strong winds.
