The California Coastal Commission meeting continues today at Port Hueneme.

The big item … the removal of Rindge Dam .. is tomorrow.

As we’ve reported … the 160 million dollar plus dam project would demolish an obsolete structure built 90 years ago.

The basin uphill of the dam has completely filled uop with sand and rocks.

The U S Army Corps of Engineers plans to haul the rocks out by truck.

The sand will go to Ventura County … then by barge back to Malibu.

All this has  has strong critics at the Malibu City Council … worried about the floods it might cause at homes in the Serra Estates and Cross Creek area.

The city engineer agrees … that removing Rindge Dam from Malibu Canyon could cause flooding in Serra Canyon and the Civic Center.

KBUU News will have updates … as the testimony spools and the vote is taken … tomorrow all day … on 99-1 KBUU and Radio Malibu dot net.
