Caltrans officials have quietly started two major projects in central Malibu that will affect traffic … and drastically change the heart of Malibu’s appearance.
Today… contractors working for the private landowners will begin work to squeeze in a right turn lane on Pacific Coast Highway at the Cross Creek Bridge … next to the Shell station.

Malibu’s state senator is accusing the California Public Utilities Commission of secretly allowing the Southern California Gas Company to dramatically expand the usage of Aliso Canyon as an underground methane storage area.

The number of homeless people sleeping on Malibu streets has not been released yet.
But the survey on Santa Monica streets is in.
There is an increase of 11 percent … that’s 646 people … according to this winter’s Homeless Count.
Another 311 homeless people were counted in shelters and other institutions in Santa Monica.
Overall, the count found a four percent increase in the homeless population.
Last year … the number of people sleeping unhoused and outside shelters in Santa Monica jumped 39 percent.
As we say … the city of malibu has yet to release the homeless count from up here.

The Coastal Commission is meeting the next three days up in Port Hueneme.
On Friday …the Commission will consider the Rindge Dam removal project.
