Fire lines have been cut around the Malibu Civic Center, and along Piuma Canyon Road, and at Carbon Canyon.
Near Puerco Canyon, on the western front, fire lines have been cut on the eastern side of Corral Canyon.
Weather forecast: remnants of a very weak cold front will arrive tonight.
Sunday, some weak offshore Santa Anas: 15 to 30 miles per hour.
Moderate Santa Anas will arrive Tuesday night, with top winds of 30 to 45 miles per hour, low humidity. Not nearly as strong as what was blowing Monday when the fire started.
Unlike the Woolsey Fire, debris removal of destroyed houses will nit be handled by the State of California. The city will be in charge. During Woolsey, there was a bog delay on that because the state crews were up in Paradise Calif.

Only road closure: Malibu Canyon Road through the tunnel. Repair trucks are still on the road, public passage is impossible.
The probability of Franklin Fire perimeter increase continues to drop, but there is still some possibility that the weather next week could cause fire to rekindle and spread. “there is still some potential for this fire to get up and move,” says fire behavior specialist Jan Smith.

PCH is fully reopened.
All roads are reopened except Malibu Canyon (see above). Residents with ID only, however, allowed up Las Flores Can Road, Carbon Cyn Rd, Sweetwater Canyon, Puerco Canyon Rd, and Corral Can Road.
Security patrols by deputies will continue.
Soft access for residents will become full access for workers as soon as possible,
Phase 2 of debris cleanup has begun, with hazmat materials in burned lands being undertaken now.
Evaluate your home. Take pictures. If you need fire department assistance, do not hesitate to call 911.
Will city waive fees? To be determined by city council. Will repairs go to the head of the line? Yes.
City will coordinate debris removal – in Woolsey that was done by the state.
Business owners can expect dedicated support at the local assistance center: 10am to 4pm at Malibu City Hall. 15 agencies will be there, including SCE, for residents reconnecting power lines. Malibu Elementary, Malibu Middle and Malibu High are being cleaned and will reopen Monday.
Webster has smoke damage and will be reopened first week of 2025. Teachers are setting up Webster classrooms at the elementary school on Point Dume (“Malibu Elementary School”).

Elaina Pappas: 75% of damaged structures have been assessed. Based on those, the number of houses destroyed is now 8 destroyed and 11 damaged.
4 commercial properties damaged, none destroyed.
4 outbuildings damaged, 11 destroyed.

Dusty Martin, Unified Incident Commander: fire department drones are monitoring the burn area looking for heat signatures.
5600 homes in the fire footprint. No way to tell how many the community brigade saved but they worked hand in hand with the fire department.
