The number of positive Covid cases at Malibu Middle and Malibu High schools has gone up from 20 to 57, and more PCR tests are being processed, the school principals said tonight.
And although on-campus classes will be held tomorrow, the 57 families are being contacted tonight with instructions to isolate those children or employees. Due to the late hour, some of those notifications will be made by email, they said.
“Our remote learning day prevented additional spread and quarantines that may have resulted from coming to campus today,” said principals Melissa Andino and Patrick Miller in an email sent at 6:45 pm tonight (Tuesday).
Because some students will need to be sorted out Wednesday, as the Tuesday PCR tests come back, those students will not be allowed on campus until the school gets their test results. “We expect these results sometime tomorrow afternoon,” the principals said.
All students on Wednesday will need to be dropped off or park their vehicles in the upper football field lot. The middle driveway gate will be locked all day,
Because the sorting process will not be finished once school starts at 8:30, school will start with “support periods” at 8:30, followed by period one, which will start at 9:30
Bus transportation will run on a normal schedule.
