The death of Mitrice Richardson finally gets an in depth look by simone serious journalists last night … but there are still more questions than answers.
ABC 7 produced and broadcast a one hour long report … called Unsolved L-A … last night.
The special broadcast can be streamed at the ABC 7 website.
Mitrice Richardson was acting strangely when she ordered an 89 dollar dinner and diid bonito pay for it at Geoffrey’s restaurant in Malibu.
ABC 7 interviewed the staff … they said they were going to pay Richardson’s bill out of their tips that night.
But she was acting so strangely … they called the sheriff’s department because they were afraid for Richardson’s open safety.
The 24 year old woman was found dead … 11 months after she walked out of the malibu Lost Hills sheriffs station in the middle of the night.
Sept 2009.
Her family was interviewed extensively by ABC 7 …
MIITRICE 111 strnage she is not still here.
And the ABC 7 investigation airs for the first time surveillance tapes of Richardson inside the Malibu Lost Hills jail facility.
For years … the LA sheriff’s station said those pictures did not exist.
They existed … on a computer storage device in an unnamed jail official’s desk.
The videos … however … do not show any obvious clues as to what happened,.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva … says … the death is still unsolved.
MITIRICE 222 should have stayed their longer.
Jail procedures have been changed… Not just at Malibu lost Hills but countywide.
Persons who are taken into custody will not be released in the middle of the night without transportation phone or money… Unless they insist.
In the aftermath … the L A County Board of Supervisors will today consider adding 10 thousand dollars to the reward fund for information into what happened.
That is a largely symbolic gesture …
Lots of details …but no answers.

Blizzard warnings go up for Mammoth Lakes and the sierra Nevada this afternoon.
The weather forecast in San Francisco is for eight days of continuous rain.
Here in Malibu…just clouds today … we may see some light rain tomorrow.
Real rain could arrive midday Thursday.
Says the National Weather Service … “obviously the question everyone wants to know is how much rain is going to fall?”
The answer is … they don’t know … this storm is coming up from the Hawaiian islands … instead of down the coast …
The computers are all in disagreement.
Still thinking a half to one and a half inches of rain.
Storm is blowing in from the west…. Snow levels were rain pretty high in the Christmas Eve… when colder air will arrive and the snow levels may drop down to the grapevine level.
Hit and miss showers are expected Christmas Day and Sunday …and a cold rain and snow storm is expected in the middle of the week.

As we reported yesterday … the Malibu Homelessness task Force meets this afternoon at 2.
The task force has been toiling away … with several subcommittees researching the legal .. social and logistical issues of homelessness amidst luxury … along an ocean … in a very high fire risk area.
The city’s arts commission also meets.
They will discuss a request from a man named Eduardo del Signore for 900 dollars in city money … to pay for musicians at a concert he wants to stage at a malibu church.
Mr. Del Signore stated his proposal was for a concert series and funding of approximately $900 would be needed to help subsidize musician fees.
Del Signore provide a detailed proposal, including costs for review and further discussion for his proposal.
The city council would have to approve that.
The Arts Commission meets at 9 this morning on the Internet.

The final redistricting maps for California’s US congressional and Sacramento Senate and assembly seats are out.
And Malibu has a new US Congress person.
Ted Lieu… A liberal Democrat from the South Bay… well … his congressional district now ends at the northern city limit of santa monica.
Malibu is in a congressional district that includes the western San Fernando Valley.
But it what does not include Ventura county or the city’s over the hill on the 101 freeway.
Malibu looks to be in a much less solid democratic district …
Although Congressional District 32 includes the Hollywood Hills … and van Nuys … it also takes in the Porter ranch and Chatsworth areas … two of the most conservative parts of the city of Los Angeles.
Brad Sherman represents part of that area in Congress.
It is likely that brad Sherman is now your new congressman.
Piolitico magazine says California’s new congressional map bolster Democrats’ uphill quest to maintain their minuscule House majority.
Final maps approved late Monday by the state’s independent redistricting commission create more challenging districts for Republican incumbents without substantially undermining the prospects of vulnerable Democrats.

As for state senate … Henry Stern has two years left to serve in office …. But he hopes to win an election to be the new L A County supervisor.
Malibu now moves to a state senate district that stretches all the way down the coast to Rancho Palos Verdes … a gerrymandered district that cuts the LAX area out but includes the Hollywood hills.
That would be a solidly democratic district.
As for assemble district … well … this will be interesting.
Malibu is now part of Ventura County for that.
We’re again chopped off from Santa Monica.
But we are now part of a assemble district that encompasses the Santa Monica Mountains west of Beverly Glen … west to Point Mugu.
But also … Thousand Oaks … and Simi Valley.
Republicans have a slightly better shot at winning that election … of state assembly.
Democrats currently control more than 75% of seats in the state Senate and Assembly.
It may take a couple of days for all the pieces to fall into place … as some incumbents may actually move to more favorable districts.
These maps will be up for public review for the next three days, and the commission will certify them on Monday.
