Feldman May Announce Malibu City Hall Exit This Afternoon

City Manager Reva Feldman may be replaced this afternoon.
The Malibu city council will have its seventh closed door session on Feldman’s job performance… this afternoon at three o’clock.
For the second time … the appointment of an interim city manager is also on the agenda.
And sources close to City Hall say its appears that today’s meeting will see an announcement that Feldman will leave.
Bruce Silverstein and Steve Uhring ran for city council on a platform of getting rid of Feldman and longtime city attorney Christi Hogin … who had announced plans to retire last year anyway.
And the pugnacious attacks from Silverstein on Feldman’s character … she calls its harassment and a hostile workplace … will likely give rise to her termination.
And also … say legal observers … quite likely a hefty payout from the city’s insurance carrier.
The details of a financial settlement may be released today.
And even if much of it is insurance money … some observers say it is quite possible that Malibu taxpayers will have to pay much larger insurance premiums in the future … given the instability at city hall.
Feldman never recovered … among a large percentage of malibu residents … for perceived missteps during the Woolsey Fire.
Feldman said Malibu in general – and she in particular – were powerless to reverse screwups by the fire department in fighting the fire.
Or errors by the sheriff’s office for keeping Malibu residents out of the area for far too long …
Or for Southern California Edison for sparking the fire in the first place.
But the hard cadre of people who had various grudges or dislikes seized on the fire … and campaigned relentlessly to have Feldman fired.
Her departure is not confirmed …. things could change …
The meeting is today at 3 …. and the public is allowed to make comments before the meeting goes into secret session.
