Trick Or Treating Not Dead Yet – County Removes Stake Driven Thru Its Heart

And emerging from its grave … like a zombie … trick or treating.
Less than 12 hours after banning trick or treating this year because of the COVD pandemic … L A County has walked that draconian measure back.
Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said Wednesday that trick or treating has moved from prohibited .. to the list of under the health activities that are “not recommended.”
“Trunk-or-treat” events … involving car-to-car candy dispersal … also have moved from “prohibited” to “not recommended” … under the revised order.
One L.A. County Supervisor said that “even a pandemic can’t cancel Halloween.” Janice Hahn told the L A Times that Halloween is “the only day of the year we were expected to wear masks before this crisis started.”
This relaxing of the Halloween ban is a big sigh or relief for the US candy manufacturers.
The National Confectioners Assn. rolled out a sugar coated press release:
“We’re pleased that the Public Health Department in L.A. County is reassessing their earlier decision that really lacked creativity when it comes to trick-or-treating and Halloween.”
The county is still banning carnivals, festivals and haunted house attractions.
Trick or treating will be allowed but not recommended.
