Written by 991KBU on September 7, 2020
At 6:30 this morning …. it was 100 degrees up on Latigo Canyon Road.
By 11 this morning … the overnight low had finally been reached …. 80.
Yes … the overnight low was hit at 11 in the morning. That’s how hot it was last night.
Some cooling breezes did arrive on the coast … but an inversion layer developed.
Up to 100 on the mountains … but only 65 down at Malibu Creek.
And the moon was brown … as upper atmosphere was stained by smoke blowing in from the massive fires above Azusa and near Yucaipa.
A massive cooling off is predicted today and especially tomorrow.
But then … the first Santa Ana Winds of the season will again warm things up tomorrow night … into Wednesday.
The Malibu coast will develop east winds and once again … very warm temperatures.
The low humidities which will greatly increase the fire danger.

The sun rose through thick upper atmosphere smoke this morning …
50 miles east of Malibu … a brush fire erupted yesterday afternoon in Angeles National Forest north of Azusa.
The Bobcat fire started shortly after noon Sunday near Cogswell Dam.
But 6 p-m … it had burned an estimated 1,800 acres of brush and timber by 6 p.m., U.S. Forest Service officials said.
Futher east from there … the 7000 acre Eldorado Fire … is burning east of San Bernardino.
This fire was set off by idiots … using a smoke bomb to reveal the gender of a baby in gestation.
With any luck at all … those proud parents will be paying off the costs of this fire for the rest of that kid’s childhood.
There are no fires burning in western L A or Ventura counties this morning.
——
There were no major power outages reported in the Malibu area … yesterday.
Wires fell at one location …. not unusual when lines overheat.
The state has lifted its Stage 2 emergency power shortage alert.
No rolling blackouts were ordered by the grid operators.
State officials say their request for people to conserve energy worked.
