25 Malibu charities were nearly all left disappointed yesterday … when a city council subcommittee divvied up 150 thousand dollars in general grant funds amongst nearly a half million dollars in fundiNG requests.
Most agencies got about 20 percent of what they asked for.
Some got nothing at all … including Poison Free Malibu … the Malibu Aquatics Foundation and two foundations … the Sea Save Foundation and Nature of Wildworks.
The Malibu CART effort … which helps people oin the streets … got zero …. as the cpuncil members said they want to funnel all the city homeless money to the Peole Concern.
Meals on Wheels West got its full request …35 hundred dollars.
Oner agency got full funding … a 10 thousand dollar request from the volunteer Malibu Search and Rescue team … a request to buy new 2-way radios.
The largest recommended allocation … 100 thoUSand dollars … went to the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu.
They had requested 150 thousand dollars.
