OSBY NEWSCART 75550LATE RAIN
“We’re concerned … we’ve had a lot of rainfall late in the spring hear and that’s concerning to us.
“The good thing about the fact we are having late rainfall is that it has pushed back our fire season about one month.”
The fire chief was speaking at a news conference yesterday.
The disease’s spread is changing firefighting tactics.
NEWSCART 75551 OSBY COVID FIRES
“We are concerned about the potential impacts that the COVID 19 may have on our ability to respond to fires.
“And so we’ve been having a lot of meetings and online conservations and training to ensure that we can do all that we can to prevent fires, but if there are fires we will do all that we can as a team that we keep them from becoming large incidents.”
As for fire risks, the threat is low this weekend.
The rain the region has received has made the moisture in local vegetation above normal.
It is possible that hot, dry weather and winds could produce some grass fires … however … firefighters say.
