Two Santa Monica Nursing Homes Generate 50 COVID Cases – 9 Patients Die – Testing Continues In Malibu

For the first time … L A County is releasing data about how many people are dying in particular nursing homes.
And the data paints a grim picture in the nearest nursing homes … in Santa Monica.
Six patients have died after contracting COVID 19 at the Rehabilitation Center of Santa Monica.
And another three patients have died after contracting COVID 19 at the Beachwood post acute rehab center in Santa Monica.
To date, 21 patients and 10 staff members have tested positive at the Rehabilitation Center.
Plus 10 patients and 9 staff members at Beachwood.
40 percent of the COVID-19 cases in the local area are in nursing homes.
The grim death toll in all of L A County has increased to 797 people.
In Malibu … free testing continues today at Malibu City Hall.
People from anywhere in the surrounding area are invited to the tests.
yesterday … there wasn’t even a line.
In and out in 10 minutes at midday.
Barbara Ferrer … the county public health officer … wants people to get tested.

“The test only takes 5-10 minutes.
“I know a many people are scared of getting their results.
“They worried that they will not be able to manage if they are found to be positive and need to isolate.
“But the county family is here to help you.
“So please … if you gave symptoms you can talk to your provider.
“But we have capacity at the county regional testing sites for you to get tested.”
The confirmed number of cases in L A County … 17 thousand 508.

“At this point … over 98,000 people have been tested for Covid-19 across the county and had the results reported to the LA County Department of Public Health. 14% of all the people who have been tested to date have been positive.”
Ventura County has seen 465 confirmed cases … and 16 dead people.
That’s only people confirmed to have died from the pandemic in hospitals … confirmed before death.
An unknown number of people who died at home … or who could not get tests… are not included.
