Cuthbert House Goes Before Planning Commission Over The Phones Monday
Written by 991KBU on April 2, 2020
For the first time since the Coronavirus crisis hit … the Malibu Planning Commission will meet next Monday.
It will be via teleconference.
The audio will be streamed on the city’s web page.
As usual … written comments may be submitted to the Planning Commission before the meeting begins.
The public may comment on items by dialing in.
Directions will be provided on the city’s web site.
Nine routine receive and file type items.
Ten fairly significant items … like a proposed ordinance on granny flats … all being pushed back to later dates.
The hearing on the Paradise Cove sewer replacement project … that’s been delayed until later thus month.
One big house project is on the agenda … one of the first Woolsey Fire houses to come before the Planning Commission.
Routine rebuilds do not need Planning Commission approval.
The owners of one house on Cuthbert Avenue in Malibu Park plan a bigger house.
This house would be 24 feet high … above the city’s 18 foot limit.
But the house is on a sloping lot … and from the street it would appear to be one story high.
The Planning Commission has already once looked at this house … and voiced concerns about the the size of the 6 thousand plus foot structures … in relation to neighborhood character.
Also … planning commissioners worried that the second floor was too big.
This will be the first time that a public hearing will be conducted by the Planning Commission … without the public in physical attendance.
