Smaller Of Two Massive Projects Near Kanan/101 Shot Down By Appeal Court

A major court defeat for a huge development project just over the hill in Agoura Hills.
The California state court of appeal has torpedoed a big residential and commercial development in Agoura Hills.
The 8-acre project would be on the oak-studded hillside on the corner of Cornell Road at Agoura Road.
A group called Save the Agoura Cornell Knoll (STACK) teamed with the California Native Plant Society to stop the projct … called the Cornerstone.
“The development would have decimated the beautiful knoll and mountainside on the southeast corner of Agoura and Cornell roads,” said one STACK leader … quoted by the Acorn newspaper.
A lower court had already ruled that the project was hopelessly illegal.
No full environmental impact report.
And it ran right over the city of Agoura Hills ordinance that protects historic oak trees.
29 oak trees would have been mowed down.
The rejected project is one of two massive commercial and residential project s proposed for the gateway to malibu and the Santa Monica Mountains.
The Ave is a gigantic hotel … commercial and residential project planned for the southeast corner of Agoura and Kanan roads.
It is more than twice the size of Cornerstone … and The Ave also has some of the same legal shortcomings as the project that just got shot down,
