Three L.A. County sheriff’s deputies and five L.A. County Fire Department firefighters are now under quarantine.
They were sent to a house in Walnut … 18 miles east of Los Angeles … to attend to a woman who was in full cardiac arrest …
Sheriff Alex Villanueva said yesterday the woman was taken by ambulance to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
She was placed in isolation but died shortly afterward.
——
Yesterday morning … a man described by sheriff’s deputies as a male adult transient assaulted a worker at a business in the area of PCH and Corral Canyon, in the City of Malibu.
The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Deputies immediately searched the area, located and arrested the suspect for Felony Assault.
City manager Reva Feldman says that as of now … there have been no reduction in forces for the L A County fire or sheriff’s departments.
The acting commander at Malibu Lost Hills has issued a statement on the virus.
Lt Chuck Becerra says that … like much of the state … the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station is adapting to the challenges caused by COVID-19.
To this end, please know we have NOT curtailed our deployment and will continue to respond to ALL Law Enforcement related activities in our area of operation.
This crisis is fluid and evolving, and the Sheriff’s department is adapting in real time and working in a unified effort to maintain the field staffing levels.
The sheriff has made clear your cities’ and county areas are a priority and I will carry on his mission.
We have begun the process of preparing this station for worst case scenario by equipping our staff with protective gear and keeping them informed.
Our staff has been fully briefed on the COVID-19 issues and will take all due precautions when dealing with the public.
The sheriff’s office will continue to respond to priority and/or emergent calls, and will assess the deployment posture on a day to day basis.
The LA County fire department is at full staff as well.
