Concerns Over Cougar Concerns Prompts Public Meeting

Malibu residents concerned about public reaction … or overreaction … to the mountain lions livjng in Malibu subdivisions have organized a meeting with big cat experts …. for a week from Friday. Details:
A wildlife biologist from the State Department of Fish and Wildlife … and
the executive Director of the non-profit group Mountain Lion Foundation… will address living in wildcart country.
Each will give about a 30 minute presentation … followed by a question and answer forum.
The organizer … Vidas Enck… says he understands that emotions run high on the issue.
A mountain lion has been spotted frequently …recently … in the Malibu Park neighborhood.
That triggered a wave of comments …
Biologists say the mountain lions have always been here … but the proliferation of security cameras … and social media … means they are getting a whole lot more attention.
And that generate fears that mountain lion behavior is changing … it isn’t … says the experts.
The meeting will be held on Friday, Sept. 28th at 7:00 PM at the Malibu Playhouse.
