1 in 5 Businesses Closed By Disasters Fail, And The SBA Deadline Looms

Deadlines are approaching for persons or businesses affected by the Woolsey Fire to register with the federal government.
Loans and grants are available to persons or businesses that were affected by the fire … including companies that lost business due to the lengthy evacuation and roadblocks.
Michael Hart … s spokesman for FEMA … tells KBUU News that registrations are still trickling in.
MICHAEL HART 111 QQQ INCREASING EVERY DAY.
“I can tell you, as of close of business on New Year’s Day, in Los Angeles County we have registered at FEMA over 3,200 families, and in Ventura County 480.
REPORTER: “But there are still others out there that have yet to do it???”
HART: “You have to assume that there are, because those numbers are slowly increasing every day.”
State officials say Californians may not even be aware of the long term impacts of the disaster on their businesses … and should register even if they are not aware of financial impact from the fire.

Registration should be done by anybody who is in any way impacted by the disaster. You know a lot of people are not even aware that they may be eligible for assistance. So it’s always in the best interest for people to register, and if they’re not eligible, you know, that’s okay.
The SBA says 1 in 5 businesses that are closed for one week by a disaster like this … fail within a year.
And unless businesses register with FEMA and the SBA … there is no help.
